How to Play Caterpillar

Caterpillar is a free Snake-style game based on familiar classic grow-and-avoid gameplay. Guide your caterpillar around the garden, eat leaves and grow longer while avoiding obstacles, the edge of the garden and your own body.

Like classic Snake-style games, every item you collect makes your character longer and gives you less room to move. Caterpillar adds its own twist with changing environments, obstacles, levels and a butterfly transformation when your run ends.

Game Rules

• Guide the caterpillar around the playing area.
• Eat leaves to increase your score and make the caterpillar grow longer.
• Every 5 leaves advances you to the next level.
• Higher levels increase the movement speed and introduce additional obstacles.
• Avoid rocks, logs and the edge of the garden.
• Don't run into the caterpillar's own body.
• When you crash, the caterpillar transforms into a butterfly and your run ends.

Tips for a Higher Score

Try to leave yourself plenty of open space as the caterpillar grows. Avoid trapping yourself between obstacles and think about your next turn before collecting a leaf.

The game becomes faster as you progress, so short, controlled movements become increasingly important on later levels.

Controls

On desktop, play using the Arrow Keys or WASD. On phones and tablets, you can swipe on the game or use the four on-screen direction buttons.
