How to Play Tic Tac Toe

Tic Tac Toe, also known as Noughts and Crosses, is a classic two-player strategy game played on a 3×3 grid. Players take turns placing an X or O into an empty square.

Rules

  1. X always takes the first turn.
  2. Choose any empty square to place your symbol.
  3. Players alternate turns between X and O.
  4. The first player to place three matching symbols in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line wins the round.
  5. If all nine squares are filled without either player making a line of three, the game ends in a draw.

Play Against the Computer

Select 1 Player to play as X against the computer. You can choose Easy, Medium or Hard difficulty. Easy makes mostly random moves, Medium will defend against obvious winning moves, and Hard uses strategy to provide a much tougher opponent.

Two Player Tic Tac Toe

Select 2 Players to play locally with another person on the same phone, tablet or computer. Player 1 uses X and Player 2 uses O.
